scheduale

We have got quite a bit of filming done so far and what we need to do now is go to one of our houses and film the three girls doing there individual make overs to perfect themself for chase. We also need to do a corridor shot of Chase walking down the corrider looking at all three sets of girls and there friends. Due to me being away in the half term the other two members have arranged to come into school during the holiday and collect the camera and try and film a bit at one of there houses. We have the arranged to meet the last saturday 26th and sunday 27th of half term to finish the filming we need to do at one of our houses. We then just need the corrider scene which we will do the first lesson on monday 28th febuary. If we are satisfied with what we have then we will just edit it until its perfect and go and re film anything we feel isnt good enough.

Screen Play.

We only have a little bit of dialogue in our opening sequence which are the phone calls between chase and the three girls.

Saul Bass

Saul Bass was an American graphic designer and filmmaker and he is known for his design on animated motion picture title sequences.During his 40-year career he worked for some of Hollywood's greatest filmmakers, including most notably Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. Amongst his most famous title sequences are the animated paper cut-out of a heroin addict's arm for Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm, the text racing up and down what eventually becomes a high-angle shot of the United Nations building in Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, and the disjointed text that raced together and was pulled apart for Psycho.

In this opening of "The man with the golden Arms" it is shown that saul bass has the creativity to apply the credits different to any other opening of a film to make it unique and stand out. For example making four straight lines and placing the credits to fit in between the little box shape created (picture 1). I also thought that saul bass' designs were quite simple yet they kept me drawn towards it to keep looking at it for example the use of lines the way they kept moving and the writing would change place on the screen to fit around the lines and it will still look good. (picture 2). A final moment i liked in this was when the lines got into a picture and it looked a bit like a claw shape figure which shows saul bass is trying to use pictures and different designs to try and keep the audience attached. The next video i looked at was called the "Anatomy of a murder" and straight away within the first second i was very impressed with how the title was presented on top of body parts because that gives the viewers a taste of what genre it could possibly be without seeing any characters or any dialouge being spoken. (picture 1). I like the way that the theme of using the body parts carried on throught out the whole credits because again it keeps the views attatched making them want to watch it because it is unique from any other film because normally people do not watch the credits but here you want to look because of the different use of pictures (picture 2). I thought it was good when the hands and the legs were being chopped up into peices because it made me question what the storyline was because it is quite obvious it is some kind of a thriller/horror but then this gave me an idea of what it might actually be about (murdering someone and maybe chopping up there body parts?) The final video i looked at was from Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho". I thought it was interesting how they would say the persons name and then it would become all strambled because when you read the title of the movie it makes you think about the mental element of someone, and how it must be a bit twisted which is metaphorically shown in the "scrambling" of the names.

Location shots

We had to discuss what locations we were going to use to film our opening scene in. Obviously we needed a suited environment to our scenario which is a "typical high school" which is perfect as we already go to one therefore we are going to film in our school. We did think about filming elsewhere and going off grounds to actual restaurants in London and we even thought about going to the savoy hotel to film the scene with Klaudia and Chase, but the furthest we are going is to our houses which are only about a 10 minute walk from school. We decided not to go off that far filming because as i said with the casting shots because we want the best mark we can get we are definitely going to be re- filming a lot of scenes to get it perfect there for we do not want to shoot scenes were we have to travel far because it will be a lot harder to re film and might make us leave it as it is because of a struggle to get to the destination where we first filmed a scene.

- We will use the school corridor to do a establishing shot of "chase" walking down the corridor with all of his friends and he will pass each of the girls as the camera is following him just to show the seperation of the girls how they are not friends.

- We decided that we need to show a way to represent Chase' character and how he is so popular so we had an idea and is only just an option so far that chase could walk passed to canteen and one of the dinner ladies could chuck him a free water bottle or something but we haven't let made a certain decision.

- The front of the school is where we are going to have the first shot where we will start of at the sky filming with our music playing and the title appearing "chasing Chase" and we will then lower the camera going down from the sky whilst the credits are appearing and introducing the front of the school to the audience.
